40th Anniversary Season

Dear <<Greeting>>
A very special welcome to the 40th Season of music presented by The English Arts Chorale and Orchestra. 39 seasons and hundreds of concerts have thrilled and delighted thousands of music-lovers since that first Handel's Messiah on Good Friday 1981 in St Mary's Church, Reigate.

At 5pm on 26th October we mark the occasion with a service of Choral Evensong, in St Mary's where the EAC was "born", followed by a short concert featuring Vivaldi's Gloria. This will be a family occasion, with the solos sung by Chorale members, the organ played by our recently-retired organist Ian le Grice, and instrumental obbligati played by our friend Crispian Steele-Perkins. Tea will be served between Evensong and the concert. Admission is free of charge, and there will be a retiring collection in aid of St Catherine's Hospice.

If you are a past member of the EAC or one of our Friends, you are invited to our Celebration Dinner after the concert. Tickets are £35 per person and are available through the EAC telephone order-line on 01737 762097.

To further celebrate our 40th Season, we have assembled a sequence of inspiring occasions which resonate with some of our greatest moments. On Saturday 30th November, Fauré's Requiem brings back a favourite from the early years, matched with the magnificent "Organ" Symphony by Saint-Saëns - a rare and thrilling programme performed by Chorale and Orchestra in St Albans Cathedral and St Mary's a very long time before the recent splendid refurbishment of St Mary's cathedral-quality organ.

Singing the Verdi Requiem from memory on London's South Bank, and visiting Prague, this time with Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony (performances also in London and Bury St Edmunds) re-live, with today's team, today's vision, and today's energy, great moments from decades of music. Don't miss this opportunity to join us for some extremely special occasions.

Best wishes
