Dear <<Greeting>>

Christmas in your living room – Saturday 12th December
A ray of light – a big, shining blaze of light from our scientists this week with the arrival of a vaccine for Covid19 – makes the future look a little brighter at last. Join us to celebrate by enjoying a real taste of a traditional Christmas with the EAC’s Christmas Concert, livestreamed into your living room.

We are delighted to be able to meet in St Mary’s Church Reigate to bring you a special evening of celebration and festive magic just before Christmas. At under an hour, the concert is just the right length to accompany your pre-dinner drinks!

As well as traditional and well-loved carols, the concert will include music by three people closely associated with the EAC: former member Mark Browse’s spine tingling version of There is No Rose; Paul Carr’s glorious setting of William Blake’s The Lamb, commissioned by members of EAC; my own setting of Christina Rosetti’s poem Love Came Down, and my arrangement of the traditional Away in a Manger.

How to join us online
On the day of the concert, Saturday 12th December, simply click this link any time from 5.55pm.
The concert is free of charge, but we would very much welcome your Christmas donations, which we will be sharing with our chosen charity, St. Catherine’s Hospice. (Please click the word “donations,” underlined above, to donate.)

Handel’s Messiah
Saturday 17th April 2021 is a special day for the EAC. On that exact date in 1981, Handel’s Messiah launched the EAC into life with 147 singers plus orchestra and soloists and a church heaving with audience.

On the exact same day of the year – 17th April - in the exact same place, with exactly the same great music, we celebrate and give thanks for 40 years of life-enhancing music. Four sparkling young soloists and full orchestra join the EAC for what I can promise you will be an unforgettable occasion. Do put it in your diary.

This is a change to our previously published plans as we continue to adjust our programme in line with government guidelines, but be assured we are working hard to put in place many more glorious musical occasions for you to enjoy in 2021. I will write to you again early next year to keep you up to speed.

Hear us on YouTube
You can enjoy a taste of the EAC singing great Christmas music, the Coventry Carol and Hark the Herald Angels Sing, on our new YouTube channel.

In the meantime, and mindful of the very trying circumstances some of us face, everyone at the EAC wishes you the very best for Christmas. Our hope is that our music may bring you both comfort and joy.

Best wishes,

Leslie Olive
