Brunate and the rarely seen smaller wines
Barolo's most magical producer
|
|
Outside of Giacomo Conterno and Bruno Giacosa, it is hard to think of a more important or reliable Barolo address than Cantina Giuseppe Rinaldi. But where Giacosa and Conterno are widely available, it is difficult to find a good price for the Brunate and rare to see the smaller wines like Freisa and the Ruche Rosae (a red wine from Ruche, a mostly forgotten local variety) in the market. Production has always been tiny, and exports to the US limited, but we have a small allocation of new releases to offer, allied to a handful of mature bottles of the Brunate Le Coste from the excellent 1998 and 2004 vintages.
All wines in stock and due available immediately, other than the Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate 2018, due to arrive in July of this year.

Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate Le Coste 1998
1 bottle available
$495 per bottle
93 points Vinous: "The 1998 Barolo (Riserva) Brunate is quite delicate in this tasting, almost Burgundian in its mid-weight structure and overall feel. Supple and silky, with lovely aromatic top notes, the 1998 is all class. Although not as classically austere or dense as the best vintages of the era, the 1998 drinks beautifully right now. (Drink between 2019-2035)." - Antonio Galloni
Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate Le Coste 2004
3 bottles available
$595 per bottle
97 points Vinous: "There aren’t too many surprises here; the 2004 is every bit as refined as it has always been. Beautifully layered and nuanced, with tons of energy and vibrancy, the Brunate-Le Coste shows just how striking the best wines are in 2004. The detail and depth here are unreal." - Antonio Galloni
Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate Le Coste 2018
12 bottles available
$375 per bottle
95 points Vinous: "Rinaldi's 2018 Barolo Brunate is one of the more satisfying wines of the vintage. Austere, medium in body and classic in feel, with that extra bit of textural resonance that is such a Brunate signature, the 2018 has real potential. Dark cherry, melted road tar, tobacco, spice, menthol, sage and licorice all build in the glass. The 2018 is going to need a few years to soften and start hitting its stride, but all the ingredients are there. It's a powerhouse, that much is certain. " - Antonio Galloni
Giuseppe Rinaldi Dolcetto d'Alba 2020
3 bottles available
$49 per bottle
90 points Vinous: "The 2020 Dolcetto d'Alba is bright, fresh and, not surprisingly, super-classic in bearing. Floral accents lift a core of blue/purplish fruit. Vineyard sources are Brunate, Le Coste, Ravera and Bussia with a touch of purchased fruit to compensate for the lack of crop in parcels that are currently being redeveloped. " - Antonio Galloni
Giuseppe Rinaldi Langhe Freisa 2020
2 bottles available
$69 per bottle
92 points Vinous: "The 2020 Dolcetto d'Alba is bright, fresh and, not surprisingly, super-classic in bearing. Floral accents lift a core of blue/purplish fruit. Vineyard sources are Brunate, Le Coste, Ravera and Bussia with a touch of purchased fruit to compensate for the lack of crop in parcels that are currently being redeveloped. " - Antonio Galloni
Giuseppe Rinaldi Rosae Ruche 2020
5 bottles available
$49 per bottle
Giuseppe Rinaldi Barbera d'Alba 2020
1 bottle available
$59 per bottle
91 points Vinous: "The 2020 Barbera d'Alba offers a fabulous mix of radiant fruit and bright acids, all in a mid-weight style that is sure to delight Rinaldi fans. Ripe red cherry/plum fruit, blood orange, spice and mint are nicely pushed forward." - Antonio Galloni
