Fiorina has become a name to look out for and is fast being accepted as one of the finest producers of Barolo and Barbaresco in this period between the War and the arrival of the Modernists in the 1980s. The wines have proved graceful and very reliable from both appellations and in both riserva and non riserva designations.

The mature vintages have not been widely traded as their reputation has only recently been established. As a result, prices remain relatively reasonable given the first-class quality of the wines.

This collection is coming to us from an excellent source in Northern Italy. They have been well stored and are in excellent condition.

All the vintages in this offer are strong and highly recommended. Many have been tasted by John Gilman who scores them highly and consistently.

This is a great source of mature wine.

Fiorina Barbaresco 1964

Fiorina Barolo 1964
11 bottles available, $145 per bottle
94 points View From the Cellar: "I reported on this wine back in the article on the comparative tasting of the 1971, 1964 and 1958 vintages organized by the Rare Wine Company, but the bottle we had back in San Francisco in September of 2010 was not as good as this most recent bottle, and clearly I underrated the wine a bit. This particular bottle was stellar, jumping from the glass in a vibrant mélange of black cherries, dark berries, camphor, gentle notes of road tar, woodsmoke, forest floor, fennel seed and onion skin. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and at its apogee, with lovely depth at the core, beautiful resolution and a very long, focused and tangy finish that closes with lovely detail and grip. High class juice and a great value for a 1964 Barolo. (Drink between 2014-2040)."

Fiorina Barbaresco 1967
50 bottles available, $110 per bottle

Fiorina Barolo 1967
10 bottles available, $120 per bottle

Fiorina Barbaresco Riserva 1970
5 bottles available, $125 per bottle
91+ points View From the Cellar: "As was the case with the two 1971 Barbaresco bottlings, the 1970 Riserva from Armando Cordero is still on the young side and could do with a bit more bottle age to allow the tannins to more fully soften. The deep and still quite youthful nose offers up a promising mix of sweet dark berries, road tar, a touch of barnyard, gentle notes of anise and a nice topnote of roasted venison. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and more old-fashioned in personality than the Cavalieri bottling from 1970, with good structure, tangy acids and fine length and grip on the still fairly chewy finish. Old school juice on an old school timetable, this wine is going to be even better with a bit more bottle age, so that the tannins can more fully resolve! (Drink between 2018-2035)."

Fiorina Barolo 1970

Fiorina Barolo Riserva 1970
12 bottles available, $140 per bottle

Fiorina Barolo 1971
3 bottles available, $135 per bottle

Fiorina Barolo Riserva 1971
3 bottles available, $150 per bottle
92 points View From the Cellar: "It had been four years since I last enjoyed a bottle of the very good 1971 Barolo Riserva from Franco-Fiorina and the wine was showing very well this past November. The bouquet is deep, black fruity and wide open, offering up a complex blend of dark berries, black cherries, hung game, bonfire, road tar, oregano, licorice and a fine base of autumnal soil tones. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and sturdy in personality, with excellent mid-palate depth, lovely focus and grip and still a bit of backend tannin perking up the long and classic finish. This is very good juice with plenty of life still ahead of it. (Drink between 2018-2045)."

This collection is expected to arrive in Oakland by refrigerated container in April or May.
