Egon Muller Scharzhofberg
New Releases of 2019
and Other Recent Vintages
Muller's Scharzhofberg is Germany's finest and most highly-prized wine.
Comparisons are meaningless for a site so unique, in such an extreme position of climate and geography. Schazhofberg is on the edge of the vinous universe at the absolute limit of feasibility, where grape-growing simply has to stop, because it is just too bloody cold. When you get this far up the Mosel, to the Saar and the Ruwer and to the Scharhofberg, there are no more south-facing slopes beyond, that are precipitous enough to ripen Riesling in the same way. And in this climate, if it isn't Riesling it's not worth growing.
Our Prices Include All Tariffs
We offer no apology for our prices, beyond pointing out that they include the annoying 25% tariff that was introduced a year ago, with barely a whisper of comprehensible justification. While we believe these tariffs will go away eventually, we are not holding our breath, and cannot wait to offer wines such as this, that will be here and gone forever.
