November 2020 Newsletter

Happy Thanksgiving, friends.

Even as we all continue to navigate the challenges of Covid-19, we are welcoming November and the chance to  to cultivate gratitude for what is good in our world.  For us, that includes you! As a way to express our appreciation, this month we are sharing more free Peace of Mind Mindfulness practice videos, a book giveaway on Instagram, and the good news that our Middle School Curriculum is now available free of charge. Read on to find this month's School Spotlight and links to four amazing organizations that we hope you'll find as helpful as we have.  With gratitude, the Peace of Mind Team

School Spotlight
Welcome to Northwest Elementary!

We are so glad to welcome Northwest Elementary in Kinston, NC, to the Peace of Mind family!

It's been a pleasure talking with Counselor Anne Ormond who says: "Northwest Elementary is excited and grateful to have made the connection with Peace of Mind!  I have completed the online training and have begun studying the curriculum guides in preparation for introducing the curriculum for all students,  Kindergarten through 5th grade. I am so pleased to be able to offer this to my students, they are going to benefit in so many ways and I know what they learn will become part of their lives not only at school but also at home and in their community!"

Northwest is the recipient of a Fund for the Future of Our Children Grant that supports Title I schools purchasing Peace of Mind materials. Interested in applying for your school for 2021?  Please click here.

Program Updates
Middle School Curriculum now available as a free download

Free download here.  We feel strongly that cost shouldn't be a barrier to helping kids learn to apply mindfulness and compassion to address social justice issues, especially those that affect them directly.  Thanks to generous donor support, we have recently been able to make our Middle School Curriculum, including a rich social justice unit, and our Social Justice Lesson Supplement for Grades 3-5, available as free downloads through 2020.  We are working now to raise the funds to ensure we can continue to offer them free of charge in the year ahead as well.  Read about these resources here.  Questions? Please contact us.

Book Giveaway the week of November 16!

Mixing up our gratitude for you with a little fun:  we'll be giving away free copies of  Tyaja Uses the Think Test, our children's book about mindful speaking, and Sergio Sees the Good, about using gratitude to balance our negativity bias, to two lucky Peace of Mind Instagram followers next week!  Follow us on Instagram to find out more: TeachPeaceofMind

Peace of Mind can help rebuild Classroom Community

We know that tending to our students' social and emotional needs and re-building classroom community are top priorities when we transition back to in-person learning.   The Peace of Mind Curriculum is designed to help. Please contact Cheryl to talk about how Peace of Mind could support your classroom or school during this time.
