Latest news & Development Business statistics: July 2016

In the first half of 2016, the number of projects published by UN Development Business increased by 18% across all regions, compared to the same period in 2015. We saw a jump in roadways and IT projects from Q1 to Q2, both sectors in the running for Top Five Sectors in 2016 thus far. Also of note, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has been publishing more consultancies in our database. This contributed to a significantly higher increase in procurement notices from AfDB for the first two quarters of 2016. What kind of projects are being financed? We have broken down the top sectors below. 
 
UN Development Business begins publishing AIIB projects
 
We are excited to announce new opportunities from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) this year, which pledged $509 million for four projects at its first annual meeting in June.

Three of the projects are co-financed with the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The fourth one is the AIIB's first stand-alone project, a $165 million loan to expand electricity in rural Bangladesh, published in UN Development Business in June. Log in to view this project





 
Aid & Int'l Development Forum in Asia
The recent AIDF Asia Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, focused on improving aid delivery and health resilience through mobile innovations. Panels discussed humanitarian operations and logistics, community engagement, and innovations for regional health and WASH programmes. 
Latin American Infrastructure Forum
CG/LA's 14th Latin American Leadership Forum featured a dynamic, project-focused infrastructure marketplace that brought together hundreds of leading executives, key policymakers and financial institutions. Participants held private meetings with project representatives and Forum Partners for targeted business development, as well as hearing project presentations from the 2016 Strategic 100 Latin American Infrastructure Projects
