FYI:  Sunnyside Mining Exploration Project comments due by Oct. 21

Workshop on Comment Writing September 28 sponsored by Patagonia Alliance at 10am & 2pm

The Sunnyside project is about 5,000 acres of unpatented claims on Forest Service public lands.  The project owners and the Forest Service representatives have worked together to create a Plan of Operations to drill 30 exploratory holes over a seven year period.  Now the Public has 45 days to comment (deadline is October 21).  There will be road disturbance (multiple roads upgraded to a width of 18').  All of this is occurring in critical Jaguar habitat, Mexican Spotted Owl protected area, Yellow Billed Cuckoo territory, and will disturb many more species.  A significant factor is cumulative impacts of all mining activity in this region.  And WATER MATTERS MORE than corporate profits.  Additional information is available on PARAs website.

Get involved

Can you help to set-up, take down, or staff our booth at fall events?  Contact Kathy Pasierb or Robert Proctor   We will always provide a veteran booth staffer to be with new volunteers.

FOSC booth at Santa Cruz County Fair brought new contacts, volunteers and members

The water model is always popular with the young people, and the older ones as well.  One young fairgoer learned it so well that we enlisted her to teach others.  She was very effective!
