Tales of Transparency

It’s all about accountability.

Corporate accountability is about numbers, about ingredients, and about measurement. It's also about storytelling.
Transparency through product ingredient transparency, marks of certification, or design intentions are powerful communication tools. They invoke a story between companies and their stakeholders that can generate trust and empower more informed decisions, while creating confidence in corporate management. They invite your audience to be an accountability partner on a journey of constant improvement. These revealing efforts are a powerful vehicle for building reputation and visibility.

With an expertise in representing social responsibility efforts, the Blue Practice team celebrates all who strive to bring greater transparency to their work and create open communications that move entire industries forward.
What's New with Blue?
This month we were thrilled to support the Sustainable Apparel Coalition in announcing the opening of the Higg Index to small and medium sized companies around the world. The Higg Index is the apparel and textile industry’s leading tool for sustainability assessment –SME launch of the Higg allows for more companies in the supply chain industry to share information and seek best practices from global sustainability partners.
We recently celebrated with our client MBDC the very first product to ever receive Cradle to Cradle Certified Platinum, Bark House from Highland Craftsmen Inc. This stunning indoor/outdoor shingle is made entirely from reclaimed tree bark. The company has been committed to the Cradle to Cradle framework since 2008 and has continually worked to improve itself in accordance with the rigorous third-party, multi-attribute verification system that measures material health and reuse, clean energy, water stewardship, and social fairness. Bark House is also a 2015 B Corp Best for the World honoree.
Upcoming Events & Conferences:
This Wednesday, August 31st, the 7th Annual Women in Green Forum will host a gathering of the top women in the sustainability field in Los Angeles, California. With their inspirational stories, they will harness the power of interactive communication tools to empower other women to mobilize and create momentum for positive impact.
Here in our backyard in San Francisco, SOCAP16 comes to the Fort Mason Center September 13-16. Short for "Social Capital Markets", this conference hosts speakers and draws a crowd interested in the intersection of economics, money, and social good, while exploring innovative and sustainable market solutions.
Blast from Blue's Past
In a case study we're especially proud of, our initial project with architecture and design group Perkins+Will was launching The Transparency Project, a sustainability measurement tool for the built environment. From the inertia we generated through the launch, we led a robust communications campaign that elevated the firm's leaders on an international platform, launched scores of new projects, and collaborated in news-making opportunities with organizations like the U.S. Green Building Council and the National Building Museum.
