DRIVING QUESTIONS

The questions that are framing my work.

Is capitalism the answer or the solution?

Last week, I wrote about the rise of social enterprises or social good organizations to address the issues facing our world. It got me to thinking about this article from the summer's Harvard Business Review titled "Can Capitalism be Redeemed." I also see that Robert Reich's book, Saving Capitalism is out on paperback.

What do you think is the answer? For a somewhat fanciful look at options, here are 12 possibilities.

What are "Driving Questions?"

Driving Questions are the questions teachers use to frame a lesson, activity, or lecture. I am using them to frame what I'm reading, working on, listening to, and thinking about each week. I hope you enjoy it, but if you don't, the unsubscribe button is just below.

However, if you do like what you find here, would you mind forwarding it to a friend as I build my list? Many thanks!

What if song lyrics were infographics?

I've been listening to a lot of music recently and came across this wonderful article on Katherine McHugh's project to translate songs into infographics. Her lovely, subtle images are both beautiful and clever. My favorite may be "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay."

What is the gift that keeps on giving?

For those of you who give gifts during this season, what's your approach? Are you the practical giver (everyone needs socks) or the whimsical? For those that need a little help, here is the Sustainable Brands list of gifts. And here is one from the Social Enterprise Alliance.
