Go Team MYC Nick and James! 2016 World Youth Championships starting 16 December

eTelltale #40
Hi All,

I have to say Jacko, Eick and I were in the boat park Sunday morning at St Kilda and were wrapped to hear that MYC could send so many to Sail Melbourne, and still have a great fleet sailing at home. Well done to the winners for the Rear Commodores Trophy. In Opti Green, Banjo, then Seb and Digby. In Open a huge congrats to Jolei followed by Jay and Holly. Then in the OTBs, Denver won ahead of John Tadich and then Kate and Immi. Thanks to all the helpers.

Please see this report from Sail Melbourne

This weekend I’m taking the boys to a pre Nationals Camp at Largs Bay. At home there is racing for Aggregate. Friday Fun looks good weather wise and we have Sophie Jackson and Lachie Evenden available for the younger ones.

Pacer raffle is going to be drawn Thursday week so please finish selling those tickets
We’ve been having some discussions re Friday Fun. The idea of Friday Fun is 3 fold

Firstly, with all the structured activities our kids do, as well as the formal racing, Fridays are primarily to give our kids free fun time on the water. Or as Ratty would say “simply messing about in boats”. This is the easy bit with the more experienced kids, it just means an adult around with a rib handy. It doesn’t cost anything and is easy.

Secondly I would hope that as they get older as adolescents, Friday night is a routine social night with their sailing mates.

The third aspect is to help the Tacker’s 3 graduates to continue to enjoy their sailing, and also make the jump to the racing fleet. This is the area I’ve found the most difficult to meet expectations, so we’d like to fine tune a bit. This group are most vulnerable to bad weather, and some are from non-sailing families that may need a little more help. So what we are proposing was to pay one or two youth each week to help this group launch and supervise them on the water. There will be summer fee of $100 to cover costs for up to 6 sessions which are flexible. It will be on whatever the weather. In other words the instructors will have on land fun activities if sailing is not practical. This fee will include use of the plastic boats if needed. In order to pay the instructors we will need RSVPs by the Wednesday.

As always fun fun fun. We will keep up fun activities, cruises to Mills or Fishies Beaches and encourage dinners afterwards.

Best wishes Sailing and Merry Christmas
Andrew
