SUB-TIMISTIC!  140 Opti Sailors in Argentina got a shock in 2014. You have a regatta fully started when suddenly a submarine periscope begins his Argentine attack , then emerges in the middle of small soapbox before smashing a buoy of the course with its huge rudder ! Submarine Class TR 1700, the submersible is 66 meters long, 6.50 meters wide, moving 2,200 tons - and incidentally with a navigation radar , active sonar and passive sonar.

The season has really started when we get into sailing for Club Champs as well as Friday Fun of course.

Well done to Lachie, Jeremy and Zac in Race 1 then Zac, Jeremy and Will in race 2. Some great close racing with lots of lead changes. In the OTBs Denver took the honours. We will see  a few more 420s and Alex back as exams finish. Click here for full results

This weekend promises to be busy if the weather allows. Friday is looking like the best part of the weekend. Friday Fun starts at 5. For the greenies please don’t leave the beach before we have RIBs on the water. We are hosting the Sports Boat State Champs during this weekend which should be spectacular. What will Scratch break?

On Saturday afternoon the big boats have invited the kids/teenagers/greenies/siblings etc out in a "Kids on Keelboats" trophy race. A few have other commitments, so please let us know if you are coming (RSVP ASAP) as we need to match kids to boats. The Race is at 2 so please be there about 12:30 to meet, and help rig.

Sunday is racing for Aggregate again so everyone has a chance of winning. Its also Discover Sailing Day if anyone want to take some guests out at lunch. With the Sports Boats, as well as Tackers 1 and 2 RIBs are going to be tight so need a couple of private RIBs please. Then if that isn’t enough, there is Mel coaching Sunday afternoon.

How is everyone going with selling raffle tickets for the Pacers? GT managed to sell his within minutes of getting the envelope. The draw is just before Christmas. Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons are good times to sell some, and there should be lots of visitors around this weekend.

Have fun,

Andrew
