eTelltale #25
Mackenzie Heyes with her trophy - First Intermediate Fleet
Hi all,

It seemed timely  to write a  winter update for Telltale. I would like to highlight a few things on the calendar in the next few months for those interested.

Firstly, on Thursday, 28 July at 6 PM in the Youth Shed  Mel Hitchen-Haw would like to outline her fantastic plans for Opti and Youth coaching for the coming season. Hopefully Sophie will have recovered from jet-lag and let us know all about the 420 worlds.

During September school holidays on the 17th and 18th there is SpringSail at Royal Geelong.  On the Monday and Tuesday after this, there is a coaching clinic available.

On Friday the 23rd September we would like to have a social pre-season evening to discuss coaching, regattas and an Opti Shed working bee.  We will combine this with a  get-together and dinner.

For those Opti kids that competed at the last States  we still have a voucher for the  best dressed team, to go 10 pin bowling.  We are planning this following Sunday, the 25th of September, but will confirm this later.

Over the last weekend of school holidays a lot of us will be heading to Botany Bay for the New South Wales Youth Regatta.

With the improved harbour, MYC is planning an earlier introduction to the season. Our formal racing will start with opening day as usual, but I wished to highlight  that there will be some Friday night and weekend coaching from the start of October. Of course Friday Fun will start when its warm and light enough to be fun, usually closer to Cup weekend but not on that Friday.

Then to mention for a great family weekend camping, there is Country Sail over the Cup long weekend. We had a large MYC group last year. Very relaxing for the parents just watching from the hill. Lots of fun.

Finally please find attached a plan for a Opti hiking bench. Jack and Lachie have both tried this. To note for bigger kids its worth adding 300 mm to the back or putting the seat a bit more forward or they’ll tip it over!
