eTelltale #23
Hi everyone,

You may not believe it with this fantastic weather, but our season is drawing to a close. Last Sunday was the last two races of the Aggregate and Club Championship  Series.  Again we had light winds for the two races.  I will simply list the final series results.

In the Optimist Green Fleet Thomas and Brooke Hutchinson took out first and second in the aggregate, with Jacinta third. In the Green Club Championships Sassy took out 2nd to split up Thomas and Brooke which may be a good thing. There was a wee bit of competitive chatter on the last finish!

In the Open Optimist fleet Aggregate Series, Jay and Will tied on 56 points with Jay getting the honours on count back. Millie was awarded third. In the Open Club Championships, Jeremy took honours from Will and James.

In the OTBs the Aggregate went to Alex then Denver and third was Courtney.  In the Club Championships Courtney and Stephanie were awarded first, followed by Denver then Alex. The teenagers are often swapping between 420s which makes it hard for the scorer. As an amusing side note Immi managed to achieve fourth, fifth and 13th places on different boats.

On a serious note last Saturday the Optimist Shed was found unlocked. Please be careful and supervise the kids when necessary.

Next Sunday we have what is becoming a traditional fun day. For the Optimist Sailors that usually means hopping on a Feva and trying to stay upright.  As we are not sure of weather or numbers and I know of several families that have other commitments that afternoon, instead of the usual barbecue, we were proposing a simple BYO lunch together on the deck.

Summer storage finishes on Sunday the 1st of May so all boats need to be taken home after the Fun Day (unless you have contacted the office to organise winter storage).

The 420's will need to be moved over to the Flying Fifteen area after we have sailed on Sunday too & there should not be any Opti's in the yard anymore - apart from rare occasions.

Please put in the diary Presentation Day, Sunday 29th May for lunch.

The Telltale will become a lot more infrequent obviously for the next few months. There are lots of sailing options during winter so please ask if you’d like to know more.

Bye for now, Andrew

It is a series of back-to-back short races each day and runs for the 5 consecutive weekends in April through May. This regatta is open to Optimist, Sabot, Minnow & O’pen BIC classes. The racing is held close to shore allowing for spectators and racing is always tight and entertaining to watch. This is a coaching regatta, with coaches allowed on the race area; BRYC invites and encourages clubs and associations to bring their coaches.
