About MASEA 2016!

Registration is now open for the 2016 MASEA Conference at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Champaign, Illinois! This year's theme celebrates MASEA's 55th year supporting student success across the Midwest by empowering student employment professionals!

Experiential professional development is at the core of what MASEA conferences provide attendees!  MASEA 2016 gives attendees the opportunity to learn from subject matter experts through SEE Training, powerful keynote addresses, concurrent sessions focused on student employment best practices, and campus site-visits. Join your colleagues as we learn together and strategize for student success all while celebrating MASEA's 55th!

Conference Scholarship Opportunity!

In support of member professional development, MASEA will provide conference scholarships for the 2016 conference. This is a great opportunity for professionals to attend several professional development sessions (excluding SEE Training). The scholarship will cover the conference registration fee to include: one (1) admission to conference general sessions and workshops, plus all meals noted on the conference schedule (excluding the one night where dinner is on your own).

The deadline to apply for the MASEA Conference Scholarship is April 15, 2016.

Student Employment Essentials (SEE) Training

SEE Training is comprised of two one-day, professional seminars that will teach you the skills critical to the success of every student employment professional as well as to your university's student employment program. These "hands-on" workshops immerse participants in all aspects of running a successful student employment office and provide a framework for you to sharpen existing skills and acquire new ones.

Apply to Become a SEE Trainer! Train-the-Trainer Program @ MASEA 2016!


MASEA is excited this year to partner with NSEA and other regional student employment associations to offer a SEE Train-the-Trainer Program at the 2016 MASEA Conference. This program trains members to deliver future SEE Trainings in the region (and beyond!). If you meet the following minimum criteria, you are encouraged to apply:

  • Have attended and completed both Track A and Track B of SEE training.
  • Have at least three (3) years of experience in student employment or a related field.
  • Provide a letter of support from your supervisor. Please make sure you are available to be away from your position during this training time.
  • Provide a statement of interest, including your presentation skills/experience, interests, and background (e.g., past service and involvement in your region, NSEA, or other professional associations).

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, April 8, 2016.

iHotel and Conference Center

The iHotel is a contemporary designed four-star property featuring 125 luxurious hotel room accommodations in Champaign, Illinois. The hotel and conference center is located on the south campus of the University of Illinois in the heart of The Research Park. The adjoining 38,000 square foot state-of-the-art Illinois Conference Center features 12 conference rooms; two large ballrooms and ten meeting rooms.

Hotel Room Rate for Conference Attendees: $139.00 per night

The iHotel provides MASEA Conference Attendees with numerous features including:

Inform the reservationist that you are attending the MASEA Conference. All reservations require a guarantee with a major credit card. In the case of a cancellation, 24 hours' notice before the day of arrival required. To ensure room availability, reserve your room early.

The last day to reserve a room at the MASEA conference rate is May 19, 2016. At the cut-off date the hotel will release unreserved rooms for general sale and determine whether it can accept reservations from the attendees based on a space- and rate-available basis at the organizations group rate.
