UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON PARTNERSHIP UPDATE…
A recent update from the University of Dayton regarding our partnership status in their Virtual Learning Community (UD-VLC) identified an important milestone. Since we began offering the online and unplugged (face-to-face) courses through October of this year we have had 455 courses taken and/or certificates granted. Kudos to you and your efforts!
Dayton can be promoted for various uses and audiences:
-Catechists and/or lay ministry volunteers
-Ongoing Professional Development for Lay Ecclesial Ministers
-Adult Catholics in the Pews
-Interested Adults seeking a facilitated-group learning opportunity
The next cycle of courses is ready to launch in early January. We are able to offer an additional course in the face-to-face “unplugged” format. Introduction to Liturgy is now available in English or Spanish for parishes to host and sites have been identified for the upcoming learning cycle. Contact Mike Becker or Tomás Evans to register participants or obtain more information. Incidentally, any parish or school can host a UD-VLC course in the unplugged face-to-face format and is a worthwhile investment.
ANNOUNCING REGISTRATION FOR THE MEN’S CONFERENCE…
We are pleased to announce RISE-UP (a diocesan-wide gathering for men) will take place on April 23, 2016 at Holy Family in Orlando. Registration is now open. Please share this information with your parishioners and interested people. Here are the details:
CATECHETICAL AND SUPPORT RESOURCES FOR THE YEAR OF MERCY…
The Year of Mercy is a great opportunity for all of us to reflect on God’s love and compassion, which we in turn, should emulate with others. Attached are two resource documents for your use. One is a resource list that may spark some ideas or provide you with ministry support for your parish. The other is a para-liturgical celebration for families that can be used in conjunction with a pilgrimage to the Door of Mercy. The SEFL-Team stands ready to support you as your parish, mission, or school incorporates the Year of Mercy into your regular routine of activities, ministries, outreach, and/or celebrations.
Year of Mercy Resource
There have been some additions to the Year of Mercy resource I made available a couple weeks ago. If you haven’t checked it out, yet, download it HERE.

We have begun planning for catechist classes in June 2016. The invitation to submit course needs and to volunteer to host classes has been emailed to school and parish catechetical leaders. The window for classes is June 4 – 17, 2016. The June Schedule specifically aims to provide classes locally for teachers immediately after the school year ends. Parishes also send participants and even host in June. We hope to have a nucleus of a schedule with online registration forms in January. Family Ministry Update
I pray that in spite of the many things you have on your to-do list, you have been able to carve out some quiet time for prayer and reflection this Advent season. Truthfully, I will be struggling to maintain a sense of calm and prayerfulness during these final days of Advent. I really enjoyed my time off traveling with my husband and some good friends, but now there is much to be done.
One of the first things is the formation of the Advisory Committee. Thank you to those who have contacted me to indicate your interest in serving on the Committee. I will be contacting you by email to determine the optimal meeting days and times. If you are still interested in serving as a member of the committee, please send me an e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. We will begin meeting in January and meet approximately every other month.
Hispanic Ministry Update
