Catechist Formation Update
Today we begin our journey through Lent, which is a good opportunity to deepen our relationship with God. I hope that this experience encourages us to continue our work in the construction of the kingdom.
As explained in previous weeks, the form to request a June clinic class is available. Click here for link or visit our diocesan website under Catechist Formation – Forms - Hosting Location.
With joy I share that we already have some additions to our class schedule. Please share this information with all those who can benefit from these opportunities. Click here to view our calendar or visit our Catechist Formation page on the diocesan website.
The following classes have been added:

Saturday Pope Francis told a group of parish priests training on the new marriage annulment process to place strong emphasis on good preparation that isn’t limited to just a few courses, but extends even to the first few years after marriage.
“I ask myself how many of these youth who come to marriage preparation courses understand what ‘marriage,’ the sign of the union of Christ and the Church, means,” the Pope said Feb. 25. “They say yes, but do they understand this? Do they have faith in this?” he asked, and voiced his conviction that “a true catechumenate is needed for the sacrament of marriage.”
Part of this formation process he said, means being thorough, not “to make preparation with two or three meetings and then go forward.” During marriage prep, couples must be helped to understand “the profound meaning of the step that they are about to take.” This support must also continue through the celebration of marriage itself and even through the first years after, he said. NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING TRAINING OPPORTUNITY IN SPANISH
Attention all those who work with the Spanish Speaking community:
Natural Family Planning (NFP) training in Spanish
March 23 - 26, 2017

The Catholic Center at North View
3925 Lockwood Blvd
Oviedo, FL 32765
The cost is $575 per person or $675 per couple. There is an additional food package that includes lunch and snacks during the training for $50. Have your parish contact Lynda Monckton at the Diocese if financial assistance is needed. The deadline to register is March 3.
More information about the training, as well as the registration form, can be found at the BOMA-USA website, click here. The registration form is on the 4th page and you will need to click through using the gray button at the bottom to get to it.
This is a great opportunity to grow NFP ministry for Spanish-speaking couples and I encourage you to get the word out.
It is recommended that all couples preparing for marriage take a pre-marital inventory. The inventory most commonly used in the past was the FOCCUS inventory. There are now several other inventories available. One of the newer inventories is called Fully Engaged. This inventory has similar questions asked in what I believe is a more straightforward manner. It also asks more questions about the couple’s knowledge of Catholic teaching. Fully Engaged encourages a long term connection between the mentor couple and the engaged couple and it has the added benefit of an excellent Spanish translation of the materials.
If you would like more information about the Fully Engaged inventory or parish-based Marriage Preparation, please contact Lynda Monckton at 407.246.4882 or email@example.com
FULLY ENGAGED MENTOR TRAINING
The next Fully Engaged Mentor training is: Saturday, March 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Daytona. Please contact Lynda Monckton at 407.246.4882 or firstname.lastname@example.org you are interested in attending.
