SLFL STAFF
For All Ministry Professionals
THANK YOU CATHERINE OF SIENA INSTITUTE…
Blessings to all who attended the recent Ministry Professionals’ Gathering and Catechist Formation Opportunity and thank you to the parish community of Sts. Peter and Paul for hosting.  I was pleased by the broad interest in the topic and the diversity of participants that took part – priests, deacons, lay ecclesial ministers, catechists and ministry leaders, English-speaking, Spanish-speaking, Haitian, Brazilian, Filipino, etc. Not surprisingly, discipleship-making attracts attention across all genres and cultures; it is the keystone of the Christian Life that once undertaken enables communities to thrive. On behalf of the SLFL-team thank you for taking-part.

We grappled with a lot of information and the data reaffirmed that ministry is a people-centered enterprise, that pastoral outreach is a process, and that relationship-building is essential to establishing a connectedness with Jesus and the Church. How to do this in today’s diverse, one-size-does-not-fit-all, pluralistic environment is a challenge, but the approaches and best practices shared certainly help us rejuvenate our sense of imagination and persistence.

ENGAGE YOUR PROGRAMATIC IMAGINATION AT OUR UPCOMING MINISTRY RESOURCE FAIR…

It is time to envision new programming as you look ahead to the coming catechetical year. One component in this endeavor includes making time to review resources in order to determine what best meets your needs.  This event is designed especially for parish catechetical professionals and school administrators and those who help select the catechetical resources you use.

Participants will have the opportunity to…
  1. Meet with publishing representatives and vendors.
  2. Review religion and catechetical programming resources.
  3. Attend various brief presentations from the publishers with regard to their product innovations and uses.
Who should attend?...
  1. Parish catechetical professionals.
  2. School religion program administrators.
  3. Key catechists, parish leaders, school religion teachers and aides.
What will you take away?...
  1. An introduction to the broad array of catechetical programming resources and supports.
  2. Contacts with publishers and vendors.
  3. The good feeling of being on target in your planning…
For more information or to RSVP, please click here or on the flyer above.

GROW YOUR MINISTERIAL PROFESSIONALISM WITH OUR FIRST-EVER, “NEW MINISTERS’ ORIENTATION WEBINAR”...
It is time to try something new and to embrace technology. Consequently, we welcome all NEW (and the VETERAN) ministry professionals to join us for our upcoming MinPro Webinar.

Instead of a day-long program we have decided to test this new approach. Our session will last one-hour (or maybe a little longer, but not to exceed 90-minutes). When you register you will be given a link to connect via the internet from your computer. Space is limited, so if demand exceeds capacity, we will offer additional sessions.

Here is what you need to know…
  1. Login a few minutes early. There is a plug-in that may need to be downloaded to your computer in order to access our webinar-site.
  2. We will begin promptly at 09:30AM.
  3. The session will build-off the content from the Ministry Professionals Orientation I (where we reviewed catechetical guidelines and expectations, diocesan policies, and the Church’s vision of evangelization and discipleship, and had a chancery tour).
  4. This session will provide a drill-down on the particular catechetical services within the Secretariat for Laity, Family, and Life (i.e. whole community catechesis, family ministry, youth ministry, and catechist formation).
  5. Later this spring we will provide a round-table focused on catechetical planning and envisioning.
I hope you’ll give this a try. It provides a way for us to animate leadership without requiring you to travel. This format won’t work for everything, but it will for some things.

AMORIS LAETITIA CHAPTER 6
In Chapter 6 of Amoris Laetitia, Pope Francis continues his discussion on accompaniment after breakdown and divorce, including the simplified process for declaration of nullity.  He also discusses other situations of mixed marriages and marriages between a Catholic and non-Christian.  He closes the chapter with a discussion on accompaniment following the death of a loved one.  I suggest taking the time to read paragraphs 244-258.
