HOW WE MARKET OURSELVES PART 4 We build a community of lovers on social media.
Many people forget that marketing is a long-term activity, particularly in the B2B space. It means that although there is space for advertising, more often than not the time required to get a new client is much longer than a simple ad campaign.
This is where the email marketing (see previous article) and social media aspects of marketing come into play. In the space we operate, ie B2B marketing of a high-end product, it is critically important to build a name and brand for ourselves in the long term. And most importantly, to build a relationship with our existing customers and potential future ones.
By creating a unique, engaging and interesting social media presence, we have built a community of people that are interested in us (hopefully you are one of these lucky people!) and engage with our unique content. They talk about us, and in the long-term are increasingly likely to consider us when the time is right.
Too often we see people making the mistake of thinking that social media is a quick and cheap way to sell some stuff. We've never seen that approach work, and I'll wager that you never have either. Are you managing your social media effectively? Or are you one of the many who just posts random links to other companies' content and expect something to come of it?
