Dear family, friends and colleagues,
I hope this email finds you well.
I thought it would be worthwhile to use this update as a recap of the progress made at Unleashed VR. There have been a number of developments made so far that I’ve not included in my updates, but now as I draw closer to completion of the Founder Institute accelerator program, feel it is an appropriate time to share some of these milestones.
Incorporation: Unleashed VR Pty Ltd became an incorporated entity on 11 September 2016.
Research: I recently compiled a research paper that explored the rationale behind using VR as a means to train soft skills and help improve individual’s emotional intelligence. In my research, I found overwhelming academic and clinical evidence to support this notion, which further strengthened my resolve to pursue this path. Please let me know if you would like a copy of this paper.
Validation: Beyond the aforementioned academic exercise, Unleashed VR has received overwhelming positive validation both from potential customer interviews and online experiments.
To date, I have held in-depth interviews with ~30 individuals and ~10 businesses regarding: (a) the underlying business concept of Unleashed VR; (b) how the programs will work; and (c) the interviewee’s level of interest in the product. All interviews resulted in great insights and all but one resulted in extremely positive feedback.
Online experiments have focused on ad campaigns to elicit feedback primarily from individuals with the purpose of determining particular areas and skills of interest to train using VR. Among the primary areas of interest were public speaking, assertiveness, conflict resolution, networking, negotiation and persuasion.
Branding: The Unleashed VR name, logo and icon represent the company’s values and mission to help people break free of the internal shackles that hold them back. This symbolism will be maintained across all future branding and marketing materials, to ensure a consistent image is portrayed of the business with all future stakeholders.
Hurdle jumping: In order to get to this final stage of the Founder Institute accelerator program, Unleashed VR has managed to pass a range of challenges and culling phases that has seen two-thirds of the original concepts fail. These hurdles have all been valuable tests that have helped clarify my thinking regarding the company’s business model and overall direction.
It’s been an exciting and fast-paced period for the company, but only the beginning with much work still to do. Key areas of focus over the next phase will include completing the team, continuing to further validate the specific training needs of varying corporate customers, completion of our demo and working with trial customers on improving the product.
Thank you for your support over this initial stage and I look forward to continuing to share lessons learned, failures and wins with you going forward.
