- De Merc Chamber Choir, with director Alison Smart Fisher), perform 'Songs of Love and Longing', the Deanery Church of St Mary the Virgin, Church Street, Bocking, CM7 5JY (7.30pm) (director Alison Smart Fisher. A Valentine’s musical extravaganza on the theme of Love and Longing. Monteverdi’s set of four madrigals on the theme of Ariadne’s lament form the centre-piece of the programme, with English madrigals in the first half. The second half includes the joyous ‘My Spirit Sang All Day’ by Finzi, and favourites such as ‘When She Loved Me’ from Toy Story and ‘Goodnight, Sweetheart’. Tickets £10 include light refreshments. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16
- Encounter House Church presents Simon Goodall - 'Sounds Like Cliff (Richard) - performing at Abridge Village Hall, Ongar Road, Abridge (7pm for 7.30pm). Licensed bar. Tickets, priced £15 per person including fish and chip supper, available from the village hall bar, by emailing office@encounterhouse.church or ringing 08721 842618.
