The Roding Players Orchestra Spring Concert, ‘Trains and boats and planes’, is being held at St Mary's Church, 201 High Road, Loughton, on Saturday, April  6 (7.30pm). Tickets £8 (£7 concessions, free for under-11s). Refreshments included.

The orchestra is always looking for new players, especially brass.

- South West Essex Choir perform Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, St Gabriel’s Church, Aldersbrook Road, Wanstead, E12 5HH (7.30pm). Conductor Andrew Sackett. Pianist Christopher Duckett. - Saturday Coffee Concert, St John's Church, St John's Road, Epping (11am-11.45am with coffee served from 10.30am). An organ recital by Jonathan Lilley (Director of Music at the Abbey Church, Waltham Abbey). Programme to include the Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock and works by Delius, Widor and Langlais. Entry free. Retiring collection in aid of the Musical Ministry at St John's Church.
          
SUNDAY, APRIL 7
- St Clare Hospice 10k, St Clare Hospice, Hastingwood Road, Hastingwood (10.30am-1pm). There will also be a tombola and cafe refreshments available after the race. Advance entry £12 (£10 for affiliated runners), or an additional £3 on the day (£15 non-affiliated runners and £13 for affiliated runners). Runners must be aged 15 years and over.
