Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing highlights cold weather payments as temperature is set to plunge
Cold weather payments are being made to recipients of selected benefits in part of the Epping Forest district as weather forecasters continue to predict snow and plunging temperatures.
The payments are being highlighted by Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing.
The payments of £25 are being made available in the postcode areas CM16, CM18, CM19, CM5, RM4.
To 'trigger' the payments the average temperature at a specified weather station must be recorded as, or forecast to be, 0°C or below for seven consecutive days.
The alert was triggered on February 23 and runs until March 1.
£25 will be paid to eligible residents within the Epping Forest constituency living in the stated postcode districts.
