Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing calls on people to respond to
Draft Local Plan
Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing has called on people living in the Epping Forest area to respond to the Draft Local Plan which outlines Epping Forest District Council’s proposed strategy for economic and housing growth up to 2033.
Mrs Laing has worked with Epping Forest District Council on the Draft Local Plan for many years, during which time there have been public consultations and a number of specific studies on the needs of the Epping Forest district.
Discussing the importance of the Local Plan, Mrs Laing said: “The formulation of the Local Plan is an extremely difficult exercise.
"On the one hand there is an enormous demand for places to live in our area. Families want future generations to live nearby and we have to take that into consideration.
"On the other hand we all want to protect the precious green belt and countryside which makes our area such a distinctive and beautiful place to live.”
The Draft Local Plan is a consultation document and residents’ views will form part of that consultation.
The final draft of the Local Plan will not be submitted and examined until November 2017.
Mrs Laing added: “I want to continue to hear the views of people living in the Epping Forest area regarding the Draft Local Plan.
"Epping Forest District Council have been clear that they also want as many people as possible to provide feedback.
"This is an excellent opportunity for local people to be involved in determining the future of our area.”
Mrs Laing is encouraging local residents to respond personally to the consultation either via the Epping Forest District Council website or at Epping Forest District Council's offices.
The deadline for feedback is Monday, December 12.
