Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing congratulates Epping Forest District Council's Young Citizen of the Year
Epping Forest District Council's Young Citizen of the Year, Molly Gayler, has been described as a "model student" by Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing.
Mrs Laing met the Davenant Foundation School student at the awards presentations at Gilwell Park on Friday evening.
Molly, 14, from Lambourne End, was described by her nominator as “selfless and committed to making a difference to her local community”.
She volunteers at Lambourne End Outdoor Centre supporting children with disabilities and independently running farm tours.
She also has a passion for hockey and is captain of the Old Loughtonians Ladies 5th team, coaches the under-8s every week and is an umpire for the Essex mini-league and county competitions.
Her nomination described her as an “exemplary student” who shows a maturity beyond her years.
Molly is also a youth health champion and regularly fundraises for Cancer Research.
Mrs Laing said: "It was a pleasure to meet Molly and congratulate her on her marvellous award which recognises the wonderful contribution she is making to her local community.
"Molly is a model student who is a credit to the district - her school and her family.
"She is totally committed to everything that she does; helping others at the Lambourne End Centre and supporting others in various ways at her hockey club."
