MP supports Holocaust Educational Trust at its 30th anniversary dinner
Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing was among more than 550 guests at the 30th anniversary dinner for the Holocaust Educational Trust.
Dame Eleanor said: "I was very pleased to be at this very moving and important event which was supported by local businessman Mark Anderson, founder of the Anderson Group and Foundation."
During the evening former Prime Minister Tony Blair reflected on the challenges being faced over antisemitism and highlighted the work of the Trust to educate people about the Holocaust and its contemporary lessons today.
The Trust's anniversary occasion was also attended by Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP, who paid tribute to the 36,000 students and teachers who have visited Auschwitz-Birkenau, and announced the Government’s further three-year funding commitment for the ground-breaking educational project.
Also present was Home Secretary, Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP.
He said: "To learn the lessons of the past you either have to live it yourself or learn from others. That is why the work of the Holocaust Educational Trust is so crucial.
The occasion also featured the premier of the Trust's 2018 Appeal Film.
