Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing supports Small Business Saturday
The importance of small businesses to the local communities has been highlighted by Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing as she supported Small Business Saturday.
Mrs Laing today visited Lathams in Epping High Street; Geraldine's Hair Fashions and Wilson Physiotherapy in The Broadway, Debden; and Chigwell Fish Bar in Brook Parade, Chigwell.
Mrs Laing said: "I always enjoy Small Business Saturday when I can go out and about around Epping Forest meeting the people who are making a great success of our local small businesses.
"These are the people who work hard, take risks, create jobs, provide vital services and contribute enormously in so many different ways to our local community."
Mrs Laing added: "Small Business Saturday is going from strength to strength and we had a good debate in the House of Commons last week on the importance of small businesses.
"They really are the backbone of our communities and I'm always happy to do whatever I can to encourage and help business in Epping Forest."
Lathams, Epping High Street - Mrs Laing said: "The staff in Lathams are always friendly and helpful. The shop has such a variety of elegant and fashionable homewares and really beautiful furniture.
"People come from far and wide to visit Lathams and that is also good for other businesses in Epping."
Geraldine's Hair Fashions and Wilson Physiotherapy, The Broadway, Debden - Mrs Laing said: "Geraldine's shop is not just a hairdressers it is an essential hub of the Debden community.
"I'm so pleased to have had the opportunity to congratulate Geraldine on her 50 years there - she started when she was still at school.
"Many of the projects that make Debden the special place that it is are started and planned at the hairdressers - it was a great place to meet several of Geraldine's regular customers who have such loyalty to Geraldine and to Debden."
Mrs Laing added: "What a brilliant idea for Geraldine's daughter, Jenny, a highly qualified physiotherapist, to set up her local practice in her mum's shop.
"There is always a great demand for physiotherapists and we don't have enough in the Epping Forest area. I am sure Jenny will make a great success of this enterprise."
Chigwell Fish Bar, Brook Parade, Chigwell - Mrs Laing said: "I happened to go into Chigwell Fish Bar on the day it opened six months ago so it's great to see that it so busy and so popular.
"It's brilliant that we can have fast food which is also nutricious and tastes delicious."
