The Loughton Art Trail, backed by £10,000 of Lottery funding, was officially launched by Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing.
The opening ceremony, which included a cake cutting, was held at Lifeworks, the creative arts centre behind Loughton Methodist Church.
Mrs Laing said: "What a wonderful event. It was a great pleasure to launch the Loughton Arts Trail and to have the opportunity to meet so many very talented artists and to see their wonderful paintings and sculptures.
"I congratulate everyone involved for bringing together local businesses and artists in this brilliant initiative."
Mrs Laing cut the cake to mark the opening of this year’s Art Trail which features almost 100 local artists (including The Young Artists) of The Lopping Hall Gallery who were invited to the launch.
The work of local artists is being exhibited at a dozen venues around the town.
