MP presents debating competition trophies
Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing visited Epping St John's School to present the engraved cup to the two students who won the 2016 Epping Forest Schools Parliamentary Debating Competition.
Teale Cunningham and Marni Rollason each received a cup - and the competition trophy which they will hold until November when the school hosts this year's competition.
The debating competition has been organised by Mrs Laing for the last 14 years.
Teams from secondary schools across the district spoke either for or against the Motion "This House believes that Britain's influence in the world will be greater once it leaves the European Union."
Mrs Laing said: "The standard of debate at the competition continues to improve year on year. There was a great debate and the judges found it hard to choose a winner because there was so much talent.
"I really hope that the experience of taking part in a competition like this will be good for everyone who spoke and I look forward to hosting this year's competition later in the year.
"I was delighted to meet Teale and Marni again and to present them with their cups. They were a great team and a credit to their school."
