Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing has praised the work of the National Citizen Service scheme after visiting young people at Loughton Hall care home in Rectory Lane.
The youngsters were delivering their social action project at the residential home for the elderly and were using skills learned during phase 1 and 2 of the NCS to design and deliver a volunteering project that makes an impact in their local community.
They had chosen and planned the project as a team.
Dame Eleanor said: "I am really impressed by the work of the National Citizen Service. The young people I met at Loughton Hall Care Home are doing a really worthwhile project.
"The residents were clearly enjoying meeting them and there was genuine enthusiasm for what they are doing.
"I would like to thank everybody involved for all their efforts and congratulate them on their great achievements."
