Epping Forest MP officially re-opens new Epping Forest Tea Hut
The new, improved Epping Forest Tea Hut in Fairmead Road, High Beach, has been officially opened by Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing.
The new facility - a full stainless steel catering kitchen created in a former industrial container - replaces the former 'tea hut' which had been on the same site and run by present owner Bradley Melton's family for decades.
Officials from the Corporation of London and celebrity Grayson Perry - a regular visitor to the tea hut - joined Mrs Laing for the official opening on Friday.
Mrs Laing said: "It's a great delight to be here today to officially open the tea hut. I am really proud of what Bradley and his friends and helpers have done and what has been achieved.
"We were all so worried that the tea hut which has been here over 80 years would disappear but this new improved version continues the qualities of the traditional tea hut and the benefits of new technology to continue with health and safety standards."
Mrs Laing added: "This is such an important and popular attribute to the forest and I'm delighted to see it is used by so many visitors who come to enjoy Epping Forest."
