Bali Visit

Our CEO, Le Roux Conradie was selected to attend the iLab Accelerator at XL Vision Villas Entrepreneurship Institute in Bali. He shares his experience: “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I had to attend Roger Hamilton's iLab Accelerator in Bali. It was truly an unforgettable learning experience. During the two-week program you follow an intense process focused on learning more about yourself and your business. I have learnt a lot about myself, my strengths, my purpose, how to live a balanced life and also to surround myself with the best team to support me and my business on this journey. I came back with a new energy and perspective on many things and it is important for me to now keep that momentum. I have learnt that it is extremely important to find your balance in life and to truly fulfill your purpose – for me, making a difference forms an integral part of that. Through Caylix Sport we are also striving to make a difference. I would like to apply my experience at iLab to Caylix Sport to ensure that we keep on adding value to our partnerships & programs.”

Living Legends Ambassadors

We are enormously proud of Living Legends Ambassador and Maties Head Coach, Jeff Coetzee for the success he had as touring coach of Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram who won the Halle ATP event in Germany, in build-up to Wimbledon, where they reached the semi-finals.  Way to go!
 
Another Living Legends Ambassador and Paralympic gold medallist, Arnu Fourie, will be participating at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio from 7 – 18 September. Arnu runs in the T44 class after he lost his left leg below the knee in a boating propeller accident in 2003. As Caylix Sport we support Arnu all the way with the legendary steps he is taking on the Road to Rio.

The Stellenbosch Sport Ambassadors Programme

The Stellenbosch Sport Ambassadors Programme aims to empower local athletes with all the tools and support they need on their journey. The programme is the brainchild of international renowned athletics coach Dr Suzanne Ferreira. “A good family helps you know your purpose and develop your potential, and helps you enjoy the journey along the way with an intensity that isn’t possible otherwise! Let’s create a Stellenbosch family,” said Ferreira.

The programme is a working partnership between the Stellenbosch  Municipality, the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport and Maties Sport. Caylix Sport is managing the project. The vision is to empower Stellenbosch Sport Ambassadors on their journey of excellence by bringing the abilities of the town into their dream. Their empowerment will market Stellenbosch as a town of excellence and inspire the immediate community. The first marketing campaign focussed on the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio during August and September 2016. The aim is to give our athletes the best possible support and exposure in their preparation and during competitions.

The Stellenbosch Sport Ambassadors for the first wave are Ilse Carstens, Fanie van der Merwe, Dyan Buis, Arnu Fourie, Roxy Burns, Anrune Liebenberg, Hendri Herbst, Zanele Situ, Charl du Toit, Mari Rabie and Justine Palframan.

The criteria for being a Stellenbosch Sport Ambassador is that the athlete must live in Stellenbosch, be registered at a sport club in Stellenbosch, and that they must accept their role as ambassador.

The essence of the SSA programme is built on shared abilities and therefore the profiles of local athletes will be to create awareness. There will be opportunities for the Ambassadors to connect with the Stellenbosch community. They are also encouraged to share real experiences through social media with the Stellenbosch community.

#2017Calendar Project

Our Social Media expert, Eunice Visagie (Outsider Communication) is working on the #2017Calendar project to raise funds and awareness for Living Legends SA - Youth Development Organisation.  We thank Häzz in Stellenbosch for playing "studio" to photographer Zanyika du Preez  and the professional athletes for their involvement and support. 

A limited amount of A4 and A5 Calendars will be available from October at our offices, so place your orders promptly!

Tennis

ITF Tennis Tournaments

We are pleased to confirm that both the Curro Junior ITFs (17 Sep - 1 Oct 2016) and the Digicall Futures Series (29 Oct - 20 Nov 2016) will again be hosted in Stellenbosch.

The ITF Calendar could be visited for fact sheets and entry forms for these events and don’t forget to book your accommodation well in advance!  The Stellenboch Academy of Sport (SAS) is our accommodation partner for these tournaments and offers special packages. Read more on their offers here.

This is a great opportunity for international players to come and visit the beautiful town of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape and for our local players to compete against international players and gaining valuable experience. We urge all coaches to encourage their students to enter for these events and for locals to stop by and enjoy some really great tennis.  Semi-finals will be played on Saturdays and finals on Sundays of the relevant weeks.

CURRO National Tennis Academy
Curro Tennis wants to drive the future of tennis development in South Africa.

With the launch of Curro Tennis, Caylix Sport is taking its role in the promotion and growth of tennis to the next level.

Curro Holdings, together with Jared Temlett and Caylix Sport, aim to achieve this by establishing high performance centres at Curro schools across the country. Jared Temlett will take responsibility for the tennis aspect of the programme. Caylix Sport will be responsible for the management part of the programme.

During 2016 Curro Tennis programmes commenced at Curro Hillcrest, Ballito, Newcastle, Newcastle Meridian (all KZN), and Curro Sitari (Western Cape). As the programme develops, the future goals will be to continue growing the Curro Tennis Academies into all Curro schools nationwide.

School tennis will be presented at these schools during class time, and will cover the basic tennis curriculum to give children grounding in the sport. Over and above school tennis coaching, the Curro Tennis Academy will offer specialised private individual and group sessions with more advanced outcomes. The curriculum will be progressive and aimed at producing tournament players.


 

In the above photo, coach Ryno Venter is taking a school tennis coaching session at Curro Sitari. The school also hosted a marketing day with free lessons for Curro Sitari learners, and an open evening for parents on Thursday, 18 of August.

Caylix Sport and Jared Temlett have developed the franchise coaching model, allowing coaches the unique opportunity to start and manage their own coaching franchise as a business. Sally Little Golf

It was with great sadness that we learnt about the passing of Sally’s mother, Mrs Yvonne Little earlier in July and we salute Sally for the grace in which she is walking this journey of coming to terms with the loss of such an important person in her life.

Like a true champion, Sally has been putting on a brave face and successfully participated at the Little-Pace Challenge on 2 Aug at Pearl Valley. We look forward to the launch of her book, "Caputring the Fire" later this year.

   
 

 

The first Sally Little & Caylix Sport Golf Clinic For Women was presented at Stellenbosch Golf Club on 18 August, where a number of ladies were treated to a morning of fun and learning golfing fundamentals. The SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system was used to introduce players, who never before even picked up a golf club, to try their hand at this game. Read more about a typical golf clinic and contact us should you like the idea of offering such a clinic for employees (male and female) as a corporate networking and incentive tool.

The following quote from Nelson Mandela is a sentiment that Sally shares wholeheartedly: Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than government in breaking down racial barriers.

Living Legends Golf Days aim to promote and encourage further involvement from the Stellenbosch community and thank those who already contributed to the success of Living Legends.

We had our 2016 golf day on 18 August and much fun was had by all with huge excitement on the 15th hole where a R100 000.00 prize was up for grabs for a hole-in-one!  View a short video clip of the day

Living Legends is also registered in terms of Section 18A of the tax code and is able to issue 18A certificates for pure donations. In addition, Living Legends has a Level 1 (135% B-BBEE Procurement recognition) status, making it possible for companies to fund upliftment programs through Living Legends and obtaining B-BBEE points for doing so.
