In anticipation of the 15th Annual Global Leadership Awards, we are catching up with three past award honorees and see where they are now. Sunitha Krishnan has been conferred the honor of "Padmashree" by the Indian Government, Panmela Castro continues to shine as a street artist and advocate, and Kakenya Ntaiya now serves over 280 girls in her Kakenya Center for Excellence, an all girls educational facility. Vital Voices is partnering with Charitybuzz to host an online auction in support of the Global Leadership Awards. This year’s auction incudes VIP experiences with Sally Field, Diane von Furstenberg, Wolf Blitzer, and Andrea Mitchell. We are also thrilled to offer exclusive packages donated by Arena Stage, DeLille Cellars, and Nintendo. And finally, Yin Myo Su, 2015 Global Leadership Awards Honoree, is auctioning off a stay at her award winning hotel in Inle Lake, Myanmar. As the VVLead Fellowship Program complete its 3rd year, the team has put together publications on the importance of women's leadership networks. Through the findings of the VVLead Fellowship Program, Vital Voices Global Partnership and the British Embassy will host a panel discussion on how and why women’s networks are essential to fostering women’s leadership.
This fall, Vital Voices will be partnering with No Ceilings and WEConnect to incubate a commitment to gender equality, supporting goal number five as a target of the SDG Global Goals. Goal number five is known as the stand alone gender goal because it specifically targets women's equality and empowerment as both an objective and solution to the SDGs. To learn more, visit the UN website
Last week, the Global Ambassadors Program headed to London for a week of mentorship. The Global Ambassadors Program connects women leaders (mentees) -- at a tipping point in their professional business and leadership paths -- with established women executives (Global Ambassadors or mentors). TOP OF MIND

  • The UAE is going beyond quotas with one third of federal cabinet positions being filled by women.
  • A Pakistani woman has been appointed to the UN's first ever High-Level Panel of the UN Secretary-General on Women’s Economic Empowerment.
  • Discrimination against women keeps countries poor. If allowed, women could contribute to and increase GDP in low income countries.
Vital Voices Global Partnership invests in women leaders who improve the world. Founded by former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and guided by the belief that women are essential to progress in their communities, we partner with leaders from more than 140 countries who advance economic opportunity, increase political and public leadership, and end violence against women. Our programs in strategic planning, business, advocacy and communications build critical skills needed for creating transformational change at scale. Through our global platform, women leaders expand their connections and visibility, accelerating shared progress for all.
