Caltech Astronomers used polarimetry, a technique that works the same way that polarized sunglasses block glare from sunlight, to detect what appear to be bands of clouds across the surface of a brown dwarf. Click here to watch a video showing the technique.

Engineers working on NASA's Perserverance Rover Mission have begun the process of placing the Mars-bound rover into the configuration it'll be in when it launches. The launch period opens on July 17th, 2020.

To provide an opportunity for members of the Caltech community to raise their questions and topics of interest, all members of the campus community are invited to participate in a virtual forum about Caltech's plans for moving forward.

The discussion will be hosted by Caltech president Thomas Rosenbaum and provost David Tirrell, and may include leaders from administrative areas of most interest to the community. Register in advance and submit questions in advance. Questions will not be taken live during the event.
