March 2016 Newsletter

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all well and that you had a great Easter :) I just can’t believe it's already the end of March! A warm welcome to all new subscribers, many of you from the Valentine Hop last month, and congrats once again to Aubrie from Utah who was the winner of the five Australian novels I gave away during the hop.
In my last newsletter I was trying to decide on a new cover for my current novel, What's it Gonna Be?  Well, after months of deliberation trying to choose one, I finally settled on this one. I thought it was fun and had the island touch I was looking for. Thanks to everyone who helped me out by giving your opinion on the poll I ran – I really appreciate it.
I took a long writing break over Christmas and New Year as we went over to Perth, Australia to spend the Christmas holidays with my family and, as some of you may have read in my blog post, although I didn’t get any writing done during my trip, it was inspiring in ways I never thought it could be. It seemed that everywhere I turned, there was a story waiting to be written simply by observing what was going on around me. I had such a great time making up scenarios for future books and met some wonderful new fictional friends :-)

Anyway, after going through the unavoidable few weeks of post-travel blues, I finally got back to work with the revisions to my current novel. I'll hopefully have it ready for beta readers in a month or so and will then be waiting anxiously for feedback... Such a frightening thought getting the first feedback on a new book – very vulnerable time for us writers… but so exciting too!
And, and, and… I think I've finally found a title!!! I was beginning to think that I never would. So, the new title is… drumroll please …STUCK WITH ME! This means that I can finally get to work on designing the cover and I’m really looking forward to it as I pretty much know what I want it to look like.
And, in my non-writer world, I started a new part-time job teaching in a small school for gifted children who’ve had trouble adapting to normal schooling or who have had school phobias. Most need one-on-one attention as they all advance at different speeds. Some are nine years old doing the syllabus of thirteen year olds in certain subjects!! It’s actually all new to me, but I really enjoy the way the school works. It’s super relaxed and perfect for my anxiety problems. My classroom is on the veranda overlooking the amazingly gorgeous garden (which is hu-ge) – what more could I want !
Well that’s all for now from my tropical island, so until next time, take care:-)
