Dear  <<First Name>>,

Open-pit gold mining weighs heavily on our minds here in the heart of Virginia. Please help by speaking up. See article below.

For a clear accounting of how we got to this environmental mess we are in, join a talk and Q&A with Ben Price as he reviews his book, "How Wealth Rules the World", this Wednesday, 10/28, 8 pm.

And the Annual Meeting has come around again.

My apologies for so many newsletters! This is unusual. Thanks for scrolling and taking action!

Open-Pit Gold Mining
Planning Commission Monthly Meeting
Monday 10-26, 7 pm

Please comment during the public comment period! Let them know that you don't want an open-pit gold mine doing irreparable harm to our community! We don't want to pay for 'externalized costs' now and for centuries to come. Let them know we want clean business.

The Planning Commission is talking about tinkering with our zoning codes to acomodate this dirty business. We are not yet clear what is the best approach to this zoning detail and are seeking advice. We do know that Aston Bay Holdings was told in June  2020 to stop exploratory drilling on land around Warminster Church Road and Route 56. According to the interpretation of Agriculture-1 zone, this activity is prohibited. Commissioners have denied that providing an inclusion for “core sampling drilling for commercial purposes” would lead to actual mining. But we see the likely outcome would be so.

Why we are vulnerable to repeated attacks from outside corporate interests, that do not have our communities' welfare in mind. Take a deeper look at the history of our country and beyond. Then find ways to take action!
