Lincoln Park DIY Weed Out 2020

Hello Friend,

This Saturday, October 24th from 9am to 12pm we will be having a Weed Out to remove invasive Buckthorn from Lincoln Park. We will be meeting in the parking lot at the Emil Blatz Building, 1301 W. Hampton Ave to sign-in.

We are looking for volunteers to help us. If you are available to lend a hand it would be greatly appreciated. If you know of a Community group that is looking to be involved we would be interested in connecting with them.  This is also a great way for students to earn service hours outdoors and socially distanced. We call this DIY or do-It-yourself, to emphasize that we are working safely, separate from others. Milwaukee County Parks and The Park People want to keep our community safe during the Covid-19 pandemic so we ask that volunteers wear a mask and bring your own gloves. We will provide basic tools that have been sanitized. Everyone will be spaced out to at least 6 feet. There will be hand sanitizer provided.

Removing invasive Buckthorn from our County Parks helps native Wisconsin plants grow and thrive. We need native plants and trees to provide habitat and food for our natural wildlife. Lincoln Park has 310 acre of natural wooded areas. With yearly budget cuts to the County Parks and this years Covid-19 Pandemic we need help to maintain our parks.

Thank you SO much for your support
