Our book of the month Dinosaur Roar! by Paul and Henrietta Strickland

Dinosaur Roar is sure to be very popular with young dinosaur enthusiasts! The bold and beautiful illustrations based on real (and not so real!) dinosaurs give lots to talk about and enjoy.

The text is simple but memorable with a strong rhyme and rhythm. It reads like a poem and children enjoy joining in. There are lots of activities to enjoy. You can count the dinosaurs, make a book or play a game.

Borrow the book from your local library, go to your local bookshop, or you can order online.

Emma, a parent, writes for us...

My daughter (aged two) loves role play activities around the books on the website. She has loved the ideas such as packing a bag to ‘go on a bear hunt’ in the garden and ending up in bed under the covers, and is often now doing this on her own.  I overheard her saying "Oh no! I’ve got shoes on my mud like going on a bear hunt, squelch squerch!”

Learning from these ideas in love my books has helped us to come up with our own activities. We read Peace at Last, going into different rooms in the house, listening to sounds like the clock ticking, the refrigerator and a dripping tap, saying “Oh no! I can’t stand this!”

Hear more from Emma, and other parents. See lovemybooks ideas for We’re Going on a Bearhunt.
