This semester has been filled with university pivots, changes in our schedules and the controversial addition of wellness days.

But now that we have our first sprinkle of days off ; try to take some time to step back from academic pressures and revitalize your energy. There is no one correct way to spend this long weekend. And i’s important to listen to what your individual needs are.

This can look like a variety of safe activities

  • Sleep in..zzzz

  • Enjoy a couple hour Netflix binge

  • Unplug; and spend the day outdoors in nature

  • Revamp your social connections - try going for a walk

  • Read a book in bed

  • Treat yourself to lunch

  • Exercise or get some energy out

Do what feels right for YOU!

However you choose to spend your wellness days, we encourage you to prioritize self-care and to listen to your body to remain safe and well.

If you choose to travel over the course of the long weekend. Remember to practice safe guidelines, community standards and check CDC Travel notices.

Can I travel over the wellness days?

Before you consider leaving your area, keep in mind travel can increase your chances of transmitting and getting Covid-19. The CDC advises against non essential travel at this time.

The university’s transition away from spring break to a handful of wellness days is to help slow the spread and keep students safe.

Traveling is a risky activity - avoid it if you can.

If you do decide to travel, there are measures to take to try lower your risk and remain safe. Find lodging that limits exposure - allowing for physical distancing and offering high COVID cleaning standards.

Before you go

  • Check the travel restrictions of your destination

  • Get tested 1-3 days before your trip and do not travel if you test positive

  • Travel only with your bubble, or the few people you live with already

  • Wear a mask when outside the home at all times

  • Avoid public transportation as a way to travel

  • Wash your hands often

If you decide to travel, be sure to follow these steps upon return;

  • Self- quarantine for 10 days after you travel

  • Keep an eye out for symptoms

  • Get tested 3-5 days after your trip

  • Avoid crowds, restaurants, and public spaces for 14 days

  • If folx in your household are not traveling with you be sure to wear a mask upon return
