Are you committing to grow in your quiet time with God during this UP season?  Research says it takes about six weeks to develop a new habit, so let's take time this UP season to create a new spiritual practice together!  This Sunday, we'll receive a "commitment card" to take home and pray over. On Sunday the 22nd, we'll turn our cards in together during the Worship service.

Small Group sign-ups happening in January!!

We believe God wants us to experience life not just as individuals but also in community with one another. One of the best ways to embrace this is through participation in small groups. We want everyone at First Pres to feel welcomed into a small group this season. Options include in-home small groups, men's, women's, young adult, book clubs, hiking groups and more!

If you are interested in joining, leading, or forming a small group, sign up online or in Fellowship Hall during coffee hour. Contact Laurel Juergens for more info at ljuergens@fpctacoma.org or (253) 272-3286

Do you know someone who's searching for faith or meaning in their lives? Someone who needs a place where they can feel seen and heard as they wrestle with life's big questions? Alpha might be a perfect place for them to explore the basics of Christianity. We plan to bring Alpha back to FPC but won't be running a course this winter. In the meantime, if you have a friend you've been wanting to invite, please consider inviting them to one of the Alphas starting up in our area:

Theology 201: The Sacraments of Baptism and Communion

As part of our UP Season, Pastor Eric will be offering a four-week deep dive into an important theological topic. This year’s topic is sacraments. The sacraments of communion and baptism are an essential and foundational aspect of Christian discipleship as well as our life together as a community. But as important as these sacraments are, they are often not well understood. Many mature disciples struggle to understand what is going on when we participate in the sacraments and many parents have a hard time explaining them to their kids. This class will answer some of the common questions about the sacraments as well as help us utilize them to strengthen our faith. This will be a four-week class starting on Sunday, Feb 5th from 9:15-10:15 in South Chapel.

Spend the evening at FPP Summer Camp Auction! Enjoy a casual night out supporting the preschool! Tickets are $45 per person and include dinner, beer, wine, and a fabulous time! Early bird tickets available through tomorrow, Jan 14th. Funds raised will go towards teacher funds and scholarships. On Feb 3rd, 5:30-9, at Anchor Church.

The Cor Deo School provides an exceptional classical Christian education designed to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a deep faith in Christ—equipping students to engage their world with purpose, reason, truth, and grace. For more than fifteen years, The Cor Deo School has provided an excellent educational experience for families in the South Sound, first as a ministry of First Presbyterian Church, and now expanding to become an independent Classical Christian School.

Cor Deo offers a challenging K-8th grade academic program centered on strong language, reading, writing, and thinking skills. With our small class sizes and focus on educating the whole child, our faculty enjoy the opportunity to nourish their souls on what is good, true, and beautiful.

Can You Donate an Old Cellphone?

We frequently have events where we'd like to play background music and are in need of an older iPhone that could be used with our Bluetooth speaker. If you have an iPhone (2016/6s or newer) you're not using that you'd like to donate, please contact the church office.
