Rabbi Ira built and sustained the infrastructure of The SAJ as a synagogue and community during his tenure as SAJ rabbi, established Reconstructionist Judaism as a fourth Movement in American Judaism, founded and served as first President of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, and served as Rabbi of the Reconstructionist Synagogue of the North Shore.
