Welcome to Season 2015-16.....
The Red & Yellow Flags will once again go up across the 15 Patrolled Beaches on the Coast spanning from The Lakes Beach in the North through to Umina Beach in the South. 
What better way to commence the 2015-16 Patrolling Season than to head on down to Soldiers Beach SLSC on Saturday 19th September 2015 for the annual Raising of the Flags Ceremony...!
We encourage all members and their families to come along and help celebrate the opening of the 2015-16 Patrolling Season and witness our amazing Rookies in their awesome new Patrol Uniforms, proudly sponsored by Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation.
The Official Ceremony will kick off at 10.00am with all Rookies asked to be there no later than 9.15am please!
A VIP Morning Tea will follow upstairs in the stunning Soldiers Beach Sunset Room & our wonderful Rookies will enjoy a well deserved BBQ.

Saving Lives Conference...
SLSCC was extremely proud to have Barry Bruce from the CSIRO present an exceptionally informative and educational overview regarding Great White Sharks to our members at the Streets Saving Lives 24/7 Lifesaving Conference which was held at Soldiers Beach on Saturday 12th September 2015.
Everyone in attendance were certainly enlightened and enthralled with Barry's presentation & expertise!
The aim of this Conference is to up-skill our lifesaving service members including Patrol Captains and Support Operation team members with Lifesaving operating procedures to assist them in managing their beaches and emergency incidents during the 2015/16 season in addition to being updated updated on the latest lifesaving information and providing our members with a valuable networking opportunity with other likeminded individuals from Central Coast Surf Clubs.

SLSCC + SeaFM Annual Charity Golf Day...
What a sensational day we were blessed with for the Annual SLSCC + SeaFM Charity Golf Day. All teams enjoyed an awesome day of fun, laughs and socialising with the various members and supporters of Surf Life Saving Central Coast – oh & even managed a touch of Golf too….!
HUGE thanks to the incredible support from Sea FM, Shelly Beach Golf Club, the many various product + hole sponsors and of course all the wonderful players and volunteers involved on the day.
SLSCC was able to raise almost $10,000 to support our lifesaving activities but more importantly it was an superb and enjoyable day for all involved :)

Fortunity Patrnership
Last week SLSCC held a media launch to formally announce our new partnership with Fortunity Chartered Accountants and Financial Advisors. Under a new partnership agreement, Fortunity are the new “business and financial advisors” of SLSCC and the Central Coast Surf Clubs, supplying ongoing  in-kind accounting and audit services as well as financial and business advice to the Branch and Clubs. They have also invested in support to up-skill our volunteer executive members via the implementation of a Club Administration Conference and backing the fortunity Club Quality Program. A 10% rebate will be provided back to the surf club of choice for any new referrals generated via the partnership (greater than $2,500).   
SLSCC Athlete Development Program
Surf Life Saving Central Coast is passionate in ensuring our Athletes are exposed to all available development opportunities and pathways within surf sports in order to assist them to reach their full potential.
SLSCC will be holding an Athlete Development Program to 30 up & coming young athletes at Avoca Beach this Sunday.
The aim of this Development Program is to provide Athletes of all ability levels aged from U14 to U17 with the opportunity to gain expert advice on improving their technique and race skills across selected water of disciplines, Board, Swim and Iron Person in particular focussing on Race Specifics.
Thank you to SLSCC Interbranch Coach Damien Benson and his band of expert Coaches for Coordinating this great opportunity fro our young athletes.
Mingara Pool Challenge
SLSCC is pleased to announce the annual Mingara Pool Challenge will be held on Friday 25 September 2015 at Mingara One Aquatic Centre commencing at 6.00pm and concluding at approximately 9.00pm.
This event is a fantastic way to begin the new season and will provide members with the opportunity to participate in Pool Rescue events in an encouraging and fun spirited environment.
Event information, rules and entry details are contained in the Circular. Entries must be completed on the entry form and returned to Chris Styant no later than Wednesday 23 September 2015 at 11pm.
SLSCC encourages all clubs to get a team together and participate in this fun event.
Success at the SLSNSW Awards of Excellence
The 2015 SLSNSW Awards of Excellence was held on 29 August at the Four Seasons Sydney. SLSCC members made us proud once again with Glenn Clarke of The Entrance being named the blue ribbon NSW Volunteer of the Year, Paul Lemmon of Terrigal taking out the NSW Masters Athlete of the Year for an incredible eighth time and The Entrance SLSC were successful in winning the NSW Initiative of the Year award.
On behalf of all at SLSCC, good luck to Glenn Clarke who is now a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category at the Surf Life Saving Australia Awards of Excellence to be held on 24 October 2015.   
SLSCC Education Update
The SLSCC Education portfolio have had a busy few weeks preparing for the season ahead. The SLSCC Education Field Day was held at Copacabana SLSC on the 8th August 2015 and was deemed a great success with the SLSCC Trainers and Assessors being updated and informed of the changes to skills maintenance procedures for 2015/2016 season.

SLSCC Courses completed so far:
  • 2 x Provide First Aid Courses: 14 new awards processed
  • 1 x Silver Medallion Basic Beach Management Course: 6 new awards processed
  • 1 x Training Officer Course: 8 new trainers being mentored
