These 47 Theaters Around L.A. Will Sell $3 Tickets in Honor of National Cinema Day
by Sophie Len, Secret Los Angeles, 8/22/2022
Calling all film buffs! Get ready to get that large popcorn with extra butter. For one day only, these 47 theaters will sell tickets for only $3 in honor of National Cinema Day—for every format. The entire event is being put on by The Cinema Foundation.
“After this summer’s record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing,” said Cinema Foundation president Jackie Brenneman. “We’re doing it by offering a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet.”

This week's avg 30-yr fixed-rate: 5.66%
The market’s renewed perception of a more aggressive monetary policy stance has driven mortgage rates up to almost double what they were a year ago. The increase in mortgage rates is coming at a particularly vulnerable time for the housing market as sellers are recalibrating their pricing due to lower purchase demand, likely resulting in continued price growth deceleration.

Rents Rise Across US, But Fall in Greater LA, Study Finds
by Dana Bartholomew, The Real Deal, 8/30/2022
Across the nation, big-city rents are rising – but not in Southern California, where monthly payments have edged downward in Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.
Median rent across the nation’s 50 largest metropolitan areas grew by $3 to $1,879 in July, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing data from Realtor.com. In metropolitan Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, rent fell by $4 to $3,047.

A Typical $1 Million U.S. Home Is Smaller and Older Than Before the Pandemic
by V.L. Hendrickson, Mansion Global, 8/30/2022
U.S. home buyers are paying more and getting less.
The typical $1 million sold in the second quarter was smaller, older and had fewer bathrooms than an average residence that traded for the same amount before the pandemic, according to a report Tuesday from Zillow.
That’s because the real estate market was so hot during the pandemic, with sales growth over 20% and inventory plummeting to record lows. In addition, the share of single-family homes that sold for $1 million or more increased to 6.4% in the second quarter of 2022, compared to the same time period in 2019.
