GP NEWS

In this month’s GP News we bring you the following information:

  • A reminder to practices that the After Hours Practice Incentive is now administered through the Department of Human Services. Learn how to apply for the PIP After hours Incentive or how to register for PIP.
  • A new research study 'Tracking the Care of Kids' aims to establish the appropriateness and safety of care for 19 common childhood conditions. The study is looking to partner with interested GPs in NSW.
  • GPs are invited to participate in an online survey that aims to better understand their perspective on hepatitis C and to help improve models of care for affected patients.
  • On 1 July 2016, the NSW Cervical Screening Program will launch an invitation project for never screeners. This project uses Medicare data to identify women in NSW aged 25 to 34 years who have never previously participated in cervical screening. A letter or email will be sent to selected identified women to encourage them to book their first Pap test. GPs are encouraged to talk with their female patients about having a Pap test every two years.
  • A new tool to assist Clinicians to develop a GP management plan for chronic care has been developed by the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation. The Quicksteps tool can be administered by a practice nurse or general practitioner during a consultation.
