Help the MREF provide aid to people displaced by the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

The MREF is calling on its community to help raise funds for people in Syria impacted by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Children are at risk for abuse, cholera, family separation and more. Schools are closed because buildings are unsafe.

The MREF has identified 501c3 nonprofit Alight, that, in partnership with Questscope, is responding for earthquake survivors in Syria. For just $35, you can feed an entire family for one week. In addition to food and shelter, your donation can help provide psychosocial support and first aid to help people process their trauma.

This month, your donation through the MREF will be matched up to $5,000.

Making an impact: Putting your dollars to work around the world

Ethiopia - Improving equal access to safe and inclusive primary education for internally displaced children. The first grantee from the 2022 Emergency Famine Relief Fund is working to provide aid via cash transfers/stipends for food and school supplies for 200 children under the age of 12 in Ethiopia for 6 months who have been displaced by drought and conflict. The child beneficiaries were identified based on need and vulnerability and “teacher guardians” have been appointed to help oversee the distribution of this aid at the school level where vulnerable children have been identified.

Somalia - “The mothers are very happy that their children are getting this food.” In January, the second grantee from the 2022 Emergency Famine Relief Fund identified 67 children ages 6-59 months in the Somali region who are severely malnourished and will receive Baal Dan food assistance through health clinics that are treating the children for malnutrition, starvation/wasting and emergency food intervention. The grant will be used for nutritional feeding and supplementary food in clinic/inpatient care and after they are discharged from clinical care so that their weight progress is maintained after the initial emergency intervention.

U.S. - "Joy is giving back." In January, the MREF held its first Month of Service for the research and insights community. Individuals and companies around the U.S. held service days and financially contributed to nonprofit organizations. Learn more.
