Featured Activities this Month

Scholars Salon - Kara Johnstad - Thursday, January 21st 7-9pm at Lissa's home (off Ku'Damm). You are invited to an evening with Kara Johnstad, singer-songwriter, transformational catalyst and a powerful voice in the time and age of transition. Kara will sing for us and then talk about her life and work in Berlin. In February, she will follow up with a development workshop on Yoga Voice where you will learn to discover your voice and be a more effective communicator. RSVP to Jennifer at

The Lunch Box - film and lunch. Friday, January 22nd 10.30am-2.30pm. Robina Lillecrapp has been teaching the art of Indian cooking for more than 30 years, in Kuala Lumpur, London and Germany. She will host us at her home (Kleinmachnow) for a delicious event of education, film and food. The movie The Lunchbox is a beautiful film about an erring lunchbox that leads to a relationship between Saajan (Irrfan Kahn), a lonely widower close to retirement, and Ila (Nimrat Kaur), an unhappy housewife, as they start exchanging notes through the daily lunchbox. Robbie will cook us a delicious meal with disches featured in the film Cost 16€. If there is enough interest, in February, we could run the same event in the evening. RSVP to My-Linh at Details:

Activities - January 2016

Current Affairs Debate - Gender Neutral Education - Pros & Cons? Tuesday, January 12th 6.30-7.30pm by Skype. Motivated by our Club’s participation in BBC #100Women Debate, we have launched this new activity – we meet to discuss current affairs. Our first topic is The Pros and Cons of Gender Neutrality in Upbringing and Education. We will watch a video that discusses some of the latest research in this area (which is quite eye-opening) and share our own thoughts and conclusions. Our discussion will be via Skype to reduce commuting logistics and enable more participation. We chose 6.30pm – 7.30pm because it is late enough to allow full-time working members to participate and early enough that full-time moms could manage between cooking and having dinner & bed time.  We hope you’ll join the discussion. RSVP to if you’d like to participate.

Evening Out - Dinner at Langano - Wednesday, January 13th 7.30pm.
Join us for a cultural and unique experience at Berlin-Kreuzberg’s favorite Ethiopian restaurant, Langano. There are meat and vegetarian dishes, where you can experience the three thousand years culinary culture with all your senses. You eat with your hands (using a Ethiopian crepe to scoop up the food) and they offer platters for multiple people.  Afterwards, we could go for drinks at Marquees in the Graefer Strasse. Details:  RSVP to Nancy at

Essential Oils - Make & Take Sessions - Thursdays 10-12noon at Linda's house (Dahlem). RSVP to Linda at Details:

Capuccino & Culture visits the Museum of  European Cultures - Friday, January 15th 10:30am-1pm. We will start at 10:30 am with a short meet-and-greet and discussion about the museum and its artifacts. Book Club - Wednesday, January 20th 11am-1pm. January’s Book Club is In Falling Snow by Mary-Rose MacColl.
