March 2017

Dear <<First Name>>,

Congratulations to Director Molly Moylan Brown and the cast and crew of our V-Day Berlin 2017's benefit production of The Vagina Monologues this past weekend. We sold out on both nights with 200 seats filled. The performances were moving, powerful and empowering for both the audience and the performers alike. Look for my special bulletin this coming week reporting back on the production and its results for TERRE DES FEMMES, our beneficiary.

In March, in honor of International Women's Day on March 8th, we celebrate inspiring women like Käthe Kollwitz (march xx museum visit), and Deidre Berger, our General Meeting speaker, as well as focusing on ourselves with 3 self-improvement workshops. Looking forward to seeing you there!

At the end of the month, I am heading to India to attend the FAWCO Annual Conference in Mumbai along with Angelika McLarren and Nisha Missigbrodt. Besides FAWCO business, there are club and self-development workshops and lots of networking with sister clubs around the world. I have been invited to give a workshop titled "Women in Leadership: To Lead from Within".  You are invited to participate in The FAWCO Foundation's Live Auction.  Click here to download the catalog and you can place your bid in absentia. In May, the 3 of us will report back to you on all we learned from the Conference.

Enjoy leaping into Spring this month!

love,
My-Linh

She studied art in Berlin and in 1881 she married Dr Karl Kollwitz. In 1896 her second son, Peter, was born. In 1914, Peter was killed in Flanders. The loss of Peter contributed to her socialist and pacifist political sympathies. Kathe believed that art should reflect the social conditions of the time. Click here and here for more information. Please RSVP to Becky at 1stvp@awcberlin.org. Cost is 7 Euros.

She lived in Central America for six years before relocating to Berlin in 2015, where she is currently working on a print magazine for girls 6-12 with another photographer. There will be a follow-up session (shooting outside on a photo tour) for those who are interested on March 28th. Please RSVP to Becky at 1stvp@awcberlin.org.

Talent Workshop: Unlock your Potential - Thursday, March 23, 9:30am -12:30pm. Back by popular demand! Ardine did this workshop for us twice in 2016 and she’s offering it once more. Knowing (again) what you are really good at and knowing where you make a difference, is the first step in going back to work or doing something you are really passionate about. Ardine Verhoog is a qualified coach, trainer and organizational psychologist and she is specialized in career coaching for expats. Before becoming an expat, she worked as Senior Consultant at an established Dutch HR Consultancy Agency – specializing in personal development.  With her move to Hong Kong for her husband’s job,  she founded a company to coach expat men/women and provide training in the Asia Pacific area.  In 2013, she moved to Berlin. Please note: maximum of 12 participants, please RSVP to Karen at karencastellon908@gmail.com.

There would be several writing prompts during our session, including an image to inspire the Flannery O’Connor in us. I’ve discovered that these seemingly carefree writings in writing groups are the morsels to fuller pieces. For details, click here. RSVP to Suzy at writing@awcberlin.org.

BEADING GROUP, led by Susanne Ollmann, welcomes new and established beaders.  We alternate meeting at one another's homes throughout the month, occasionally go shopping for beadmaking tools, stones, and other pieces.  Come discover a craft that is therapeutic, aesthetic, and offers great possibilities for personalized gift-making.  Please contact Susanne Ollmann at susanne.ollmann@gmail.com.
