Intellectual Virtues Academy held its 2nd Information Night on Monday, Nov 30th. We received several applications within hours after the meeting! I have outlined some fascinating quotes and questions below to keep you in the loop. 


You matter to us. We would like to invite you to a special event held in IVA Middle School's front courtyard (3601 Linden Ave) for some coffee and pastries, tomorrow, Friday 8:15-9:15 a.m. Manny's Coffee will be catering the event whipping up some made-to-order lattes, espressos, mochas and cappuccinos. James McGrath, Founding Director and Summer Sanders, Director of Community Engagement will be available to answer any of your questions regarding the opening of this amazing school. Don't miss it!

Question: "Are IVA Middle School students automatically enrolled?
Answer: No, all prospective students will need to apply and are given equal opportunity in the lottery.

Question: "Any news on the location?"

Answer: We have some very exciting prospects! We are not able to announce anything at this time, however all options are in Long Beach, and some are very close to IVA Middle School.

Question: "How can my child prepare for an Intellectual Virtues model of learning? Are their books or resources I can provide for her so she is ready to go next year?"

Intellectual Virtues Academy Middle School and High School are teaming up to strut our stuff in the Belmont Holiday Parade, "Miracle on 2nd Street" this Saturday, December 5th, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Join us, and/or cheer us on as we walk with our Long Beach community members and represent IVA and the Academy. All participating students will need a permission slip. Contact the IVA office for more information. 
We are currently accepting applications! The Academy will be accepting 120 new studentsWe welcome any and all Long Beach incoming 9th grade students to apply.

We believe in an equitable learning opportunity for all students; therefore we do NOT require a minimum GPA or High School Index. Our application process is based on a public lottery which will be February 11, 2016. Applying to our school does not impact your LBUSD Choice process. We provide an additional option (a "fourth choice") for high school placement. Applications are due January 29th.
