The first week of the Academy was a success! We oriented students to the Academy culture and established the foundation for a respectful, thoughtful, and supportive community.
Students learned about community norms, such as: Stay Engaged, Speak Your Truth, and Notice Patterns of Participation. They played cooperative games to establish a cohesive community, took math and reading assessments, and engaged the intellectual virtues through experiential rotating learning stations. Students also participated in their first advisory class and discussed what it means to be capable and competent.
It has been such a pleasure learning about each student and how they contribute to our school community.
STUDENT VS. CHROMEBOOK
Each student received their Google Chromebook this week. Students are learning about how to navigate through Google Classroom documents, appropriately research on the internet, and access their online textbooks.
Chromebooks allow students to work individually and collaboratively to research and complete class assignments.
This week, students took a digital math and reading assessment on Fast Bridge to determine their strengths and academic gaps. We carefully placed students in courses to both challenge and address their academic needs.
Students received their individual schedules on Tuesday, Sept 6th. Click the schedule above to download a pdf. of the weekly block schedule.
