Our COVID-19 Update:
Keeping Calm and Safely Carrying On
Answers to your questions about our priorities and practices.
Is Papier Plume still open for business?
Yes! We are taking orders online and by telephone and will continue to do so as long as our workplace and staff are safe.
Great! But is my package safe?
Our unequivocal personal and professional responsibility is to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
We continue to closely follow the latest CDC and WHO prevention guidelines and any new developments.
In an article in Tuesday's New York Times:
"A new study, published Tuesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, suggests that the virus disintegrates over the course of a day on cardboard, lessening the worry among consumers that deliveries will spread the virus during this period of staying and working from home."
They also discovered that although the threat of infection dramatically dropped almost immediately, the virus applied to plastic or metal completely died after 72 hours (except for copper, which was 4 hours).
What safety precautions are you taking while packing my order?
Because we are a small business, we have the advantage of having a small, separate, contained area for shipping.
Each plastic, metal, or wax item is cleaned with a disinfecting wipe, as is any plastic packaging materials, then everything goes into a fresh box or bubble envelope and sealed.
As a final precaution we then hold the packages for 2 days before shipping. (Its suggested that you wipe down the outside of any package you receive)
How do we get through this ?
-Stay home but stay in touch!
-Write notes to your significant peeps, even if they are just across town. Put a wax seal on everything. People absolutely love them.
-Consider calligraphy. It's keeps you sharp but relaxed.
-Start a diary. Check out Samuel Pepys, diarist extraordinaire, for inspiration.
-Watch cat videos.
